This year is the year of volunteering. Therefore, we prepared a small project in the office. The idea was a tree with the question: “Why do you think volunteering is important?”

After having the tree for a month in the multicultural center, we received a few answers. The goal was to find out more about people’s positions on volunteering and to let them think and reflect on it. Maybe that helped them to really see the volunteers’ work and to appreciate it.

“Kindness, human connections, and empathy are the most beautiful values and should be protected!”

Volunteering is a big part of our civic society. Our system wouldn’t work without it. Of course, there are not just ESC volunteers. There are also local volunteers working their regular jobs and spending their free time helping others.

We should all be grateful for our small and big heroes of our community, who make changes for so many of us!
