On December 5th, International Volunteer Day was celebrated, and at IB Polska, we wanted to honor this occasion with our volunteers during a special meeting on Saturday, December 6th. All IB Polska volunteers from Krakow attended and actively participated in the workshops and activities that had been organized.
The event began with an official opening by Aneta and Klaudia, who kicked off the celebration and presented small tokens of appreciation to the volunteers in recognition of their dedication and daily efforts. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a shared meal, providing a wonderful opportunity to exchange experiences and stories with fellow volunteers attending this fantastic event.
During the gathering, the Light and Love Home from Krakow introduced several creative workshops. Participants made handcrafted Christmas decorations, such as origami fish, and ornaments featuring Chinese characters for words like “Happiness” and “Luck” to hang on the tree this holiday season. Some volunteers also taught us how to write our names in Chinese, which was both engaging and fun.
In addition, a volunteer from Japan offered us the chance to try on traditional kimonos and showed the proper way to wear them, complete with accessories like the classic fan and traditional shoes.
The Chinese community also treated us to a performance of popular Christmas carols and traditional Chinese dances, inviting volunteers to join in using props like ribbons and bells.
This event was designed to celebrate the spirit of volunteering, generosity, and shared experiences. It created a warm, welcoming atmosphere where volunteers could connect, learn from one another, and share the personal journeys that brought them to this path.
It was a wonderful opportunity for attendees to get to know other volunteers better, discover the different projects being worked on, and enjoy a meaningful moment of connection and exchange.
