Dzień dobry! My name is Janosch and I’m from Leipzig (which is called Lipsk in Polish) in eastern Germany. I have just turned 18, finished school and after all those years of sitting in class, I want to experience something completely new. Therefore, I chose to take part in a volunteer project with IB Polska, because I think that in this way I can contribute to
something meaningful while discovering my own strengths, weaknesses and interests.

I will be working at Special School No. 11, where I’m going to look after children with disabilities. Since I have three younger brothers, I’m used to taking care of children and have alwaysnreally enjoyed working with them, which is why I wished to do my volunteering in an institution with children.

The reason why I decided to go to Krakow is that I find Polish culture really fascinating and I love the sound of the Polish language, so it made sense to me to go to this country. Since Krakow is supposed to be one of the most beautiful cities in Poland, I chose to come here. As far as I can tell so far, the city really lives up to its promise and I enjoy being here.

I’m looking forward to (almost) a year full of new experiences, new people to
meet, places to discover and lots of things to learn about life and myself. Altogether I am
very glad for this opportunity and I would recommend it to everyone.

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Albert Einstein
