When I arrived in Krak\u00f3w for a nine-month volunteering experience, I knew it would be an important opportunity for both my personal and professional development. However, I could not have imagined how deeply it would influence my perspective on life, my relationships with others, and my understanding of myself.
During my time in Poland, I worked in a special school, an environment that challenged and inspired me every single day. Working closely with children and young people with special educational needs taught me lessons that no classroom could ever provide. Through daily interactions, I learned the importance of patience, empathy, adaptability, and effective communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every student had unique strengths, challenges, and ways of expressing themselves, which encouraged me to develop a more open-minded and understanding approach to working with others.
More importantly, this experience played a crucial role in my personal growth. Living abroad for such a long period pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me become more independent, responsible, and confident. I learned how to adapt to new situations, overcome language and cultural barriers, and face unexpected challenges with a positive attitude. Working in the school taught me that growth often comes from the moments that seem difficult at first. It helped me become more aware of my abilities and showed me the value of resilience, compassion, and continuous learning. Looking back, I can confidently say that this experience shaped me not only as a volunteer but also as a person.
Alongside my work at the school, I had the opportunity to volunteer as an assistant coach for the Wis\u0142a Krak\u00f3w U13 girls\u2019 football team. As a student of Sport Sciences, this was an invaluable experience that allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge I have gained during my studies in a practical environment. Working directly with young athletes gave me a deeper understanding of training methods, physical development, and team management. It was rewarding to see how concepts learned at university
could be translated into real-life coaching situations, while also helping me develop leadership, communication, and organizational skills that will be essential in my future career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another aspect that made this experience truly unforgettable was the people I met along the way. Teachers, coaches, fellow volunteers, and friends from different countries all contributed to making these nine months incredibly special. Through them, I discovered new cultures, shared unforgettable moments, and built meaningful friendships that I hope will last for many years.
Spending time with the other volunteers and our coordinators was also a fundamental part of this journey. Together, we explored Krak\u00f3w, shared experiences, supported one another, and created a strong bond that made every moment even more meaningful. Their support, kindness, and friendship made Krak\u00f3w feel like a second home and enriched my experience far beyond what I had expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I reflect on these nine months, I realize that this journey was much more than a volunteering project. It was a period of personal discovery, growth, and learning that has left a lasting impact on my life. I return home with new skills, greater self- confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the power of human connection. Most importantly, I leave Krak\u00f3w with memories and lessons that will continue to guide me in both my personal and professional future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
