In the last week of November, we (Lionel and Anna) went to an elementary school in Klimontowie \u00a0with our coordinator (Aneta) where we organized a couple of activities about intercultural communication for a group of 14-year-old students. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school staff welcomed us with some coffee and cakes, and they explained to us their international Erasmus projects around Europe that the students take part in. After the cozy welcome, they showed us the classroom where we spent the rest of the morning. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were received by a group of around 15 teenagers from the surroundings of Klimontowie. Firstly, we introduced ourselves to them with a short presentation and after that, we began with our activities. The first one conducted mainly by Lionel was about 4 different types of animals (lion, goose, deer and hedgehog) and how they would communicate. Then the students chose one of these animals according to their personality and mannerisms. After it, they also had to identify other countries or people that they had met during their lives with the animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secondly, we held the last activity conducted mainly by Anna where we discussed communication stereotypes that people have about other countries in the world. There were some labels around the classroom and each teenager wrote about the countries they associate with them. After that, we read them out loud and we debated their accuracy. To end the meeting, our coordinator asked some evaluation questions and led a reflection about the day. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the students were shy, they were engaged in the activities especially those where they had to write, or they were obligated to talk. We are excited for our next meeting in the future!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I really enjoyed visiting a school outside of Krak\u00f3w and was very impressed by their multicultural efforts and projects, which included letting us visit. I think the presentation was very interesting for both sides and I loved getting to know some of the students.” – Lionel said<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
