Last Wednesday, December 10th, we held the final craft workshop of the year, where we created a wonderfully festive lamp. The workshop was led by Aneta, together with European volunteers Paula and Maria from the IB Polska office.

We began by preparing the materials, including an old glass jar that we repurposed to give it a second life. First, we painted it in light colors such as white, or more seasonal shades like silver and gold.

While the jars were drying, we made decorative elements using a special type of modeling paste. We crafted houses, buildings, Christmas trees, and even animals, which we later attached to the jar to create a charming Christmas village. We then painted the decorations in vibrant colors to give a personal and festive touch to our handmade candle holder.

Throughout the workshop, the atmosphere was warm and creative. We exchanged our thoughts on the techniques we were using, and Aneta also explained the materials and steps needed to make your own versions at home with different designs.

We shared a wonderful Wednesday afternoon creating this beautiful candle holder that will brighten our homes this Christmas. It makes us a bit sad to think it was the last workshop of the year, but we’re sure that in 2026 we’ll be back with many more ideas to keep these fun workshops alive in our Nowa Huta office.
Merry Christmas!
