Our monthly Thursday meeting in December was all about Christmas. On Tuesday, 17th December we first quickly renewed our public transport cards, then we went to the Multicultural Centre. Our meeting started with us sharing a positive thing from the previous month, which gave us a better insight into the lives of the other volunteers. Afterwards, we played “Human Bingo” as an energizer, where we got to know each other even better. We had to find people who had ridden a horse, travelled to at least three continents, or posted a YouTube video, which allowed us to talk about topics that would otherwise not have come up.

Then we had a serious, but very important part to get through: The PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) training, which every employee of IB Polska must complete in order to prevent assaults. After the training, we needed a break, so it was a good time for lunch.

After a lunch break with lively conversations, the fun and christmassy part started. At our previous Thursday meeting, we had decided to play Secret Santa, and now it was time to exchange gifts. Our coordinator Kristina was our Santa Claus and together with two elves the presents were handed out. Everyone had been creative with the presents and so there was lots of laughter and beaming faces as we unwrapped them.

Afterwards, we continued with a creative activity: making lanterns out of jars. We had lots of materials such as paints, decorations, glitter, and stencils, so that each lantern was very individual. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful. There was lots of chatting, we enjoyed cake, Christmas music played in the background, and the air was full of excitement for the holiday season. After a brief photo session to showcase our lanterns, the meeting came to an end.

Our highlights:
Nada from Egypt: My favourite part was the Secret Santa part as we exchange gifts and had a nice moment with Christmas songs and vibes.

Anna from Spain: “My favourite part of the meeting was making the Christmas-themed candle. It was so much fun to get creative with the festive colours and different materials, and it really put me in the holiday spirit. Plus, I loved how everyone’s candles turned out so unique!”

Lionel from Germany: “Well, by far my favourite part was the crafting! I simply loved creating an individual and wonderful glass that I will keep and treasure for many years to come.”

During the meeting, it became clear how well we know each other and how familiar we have become with each other. We are now looking forward to the Christmas season and then to a great 2025, which is sure to be full of new experiences.
