Last week, we had the wonderful opportunity to take part in the 2nd anniversary celebration of IB Polska in Nowa Huta. It was a truly special event, where we got to see firsthand all the amazing work they do and the incredible solidarity they share with both the local Polish community and people around the world.

As volunteers, we met many people involved in the workshops and associations that work with the foundation. We also met community members who have supported this project from the very beginning. It was inspiring to see so many different activities happening in one space.
One of the moments that stayed with us the most was the Chinese workshop organized by the Light and Love Association. Sitting around the tables, folding delicate paper lanterns and trying our hand at Chinese calligraphy, we were completely immersed in a culture so different from our own. It was peaceful, playful, and full of little “aha” moments. Some of us even had the chance to play chess with Master Rysk, which was challenging, fun, and surprisingly memorable.

We also learned more about the foundation’s volunteer projects. One of the workshops created these bright, colorful fanny packs for attendees. It reminded us that everything IB Polska does is about bringing people together, creating connection, and making everyone feel welcome.
At the end of the day, we left feeling grateful, inspired, and happy. Being there reminded us why we volunteer. We volunteer to learn from amazing people, to be part of something bigger, and to carry these experiences with us wherever we go.
