Olga Rembielińska is one of the coordinators of Internationaler Bund Polska and she has been working in our office since July 2022. Specifically, she is coordinating the third edition of a project dedicated for disabled people. This project, directly concerns people with a visible condition of disability without age division.

The money funds for this project are from an agreement with the ministry of family and social policy. The project is called AOOzN – “Asystent Osobisty Osoby z Niepełnosprawnością”, in English it means: Personal assistant of a person with disability.
Olga’s job is to find people, personal assistants, who are able to support disabled people in their daily life. For example, they help them by accompanying them to the doctor for medical examinations, and help with cleaning in case the person lives alone. Assistant can take his/her charges to the cinema or be their personal driver. Help is provided, not on a professional level because the assistants do not have adequate professional training. Help therefore relates more to the management of their daily life and with any problems related to their disability.

Mostly there is one person for each disabled person but sometimes an assistant has more than one person to take care. They are operating in Krakow and Powiat Krakowski, Krakowski district, the unit that Olga is coordinating. The second unit is in the region of Silesia, in Tychy. Now there are around 50 people with disabilities and 30 personal assistants. Olga besides being a coordinator of the project, she is also a personal assistant for a few youngsters. At the moment she is working with two young boys: Radek and Błażej.
See you from Alessia – ESC volunteer 🙂
