On Saturday, the 19.9.26, the 2026/2027 volunteers prepared a workshop for the citizens of Nowa Huta.  The idea of doing this workshop came up two weeks ago, which is when we started to collect ideas concerning the activities we could offer. After a first planning period, we decided to divide into 4 groups each organizing one specific workshop. Those groups were Art and games, Kahoot, dancing and cooking. The art and games workshop was the first one to start at 11:40 am accompanied by 4 volunteers. There the local people could color preprinted pages of Germany’s and Spain’s cultural buildings, tradition and food. Apart from that, it was taught how to create a flower from a paper, which gave an insight on Spanish tradition. On the 23rd of April, Spanish people, specifically in Barcelona, celebrate the st. Goerge`s Day where people give a person they love a flower and a book.

After this workshop was finished, participants were able to attend the dancing workshop, which started at 12:30 pm. The dancing consisted of 5 volunteers who prepared 4 different traditional dances from their countries of origin. Even though some of the dances were quite complicated and hard to learn, the dancing workshop drew the attention of many visitors, who tried their best to master them.

The International Dances were followed by Quiz in Kahoot, which is an online quiz where up to 10 participants can take part in. The questions concerned a variety of traditions and facts about the home countries of the volunteers (Greece, Spain, Austria, Italy, France, Germany). For example : What is the capital of Türkiye ? or What is the currency of Georgia ? Those were gathered beforehand by six of them, who later also guided the Kahoot. Persons from different age groups participated with great success and because the questions were posed simultaneously in Polish and English, it was possible to take part regardless of the language barrier.

The day concluded with the cooking workshop at 14:30 pm. Firstly, the assigned volunteers started by preparing the kitchen for the cooking together with the locals. Participants needed to sign up in advance due to the kitchen not meeting the conditions to host a huge amount of people. The menu included two traditional dishes, the Italian pasta fredo and the Austrian Kaiserschmarrn.

In total the process of cooking and eating took about 2 hours and was widely enjoyed, even though the procedure partially didn’t work out perfectly smoothly. Lastly, the volunteers shared the leftovers and split up the remaining cleaning work.  In conclusion, the project was successful.
