On the 9th of December, we (Lionel and Anna) went to Zakopane with our coordinator, Kristina, to an event for volunteers called District Volunteer Day Celebrations, held under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of Tatrza.
This year’s event brought together local volunteers and ESC volunteers. In the beginning of the meeting we presented our program to the rest of public where we introduced ourselves and we explained the requirements, conditions, advantages and application process of European Solidarity Corps. After us, every group made a speech about their local volunteering experience.

The event was really dynamic with music performances between each presentation. The singer had a melodic voice and her Polish accent added a unique flair to the popular songs that we deeply enjoyed. Kristina’s favorite was Wonderful Life while Lionel’s one was Killing me Softly.

At the end of the meeting, we played a game where each one had a bag full of prizes and we had to find the person who this bag belonged. Overall, we were really thankful to get invited because we learned about volunteering activities at a local level.

Finally, we got the chance to walk around the streets and parks of Zakopane that were covered by snow and decorated with Christmas ornaments. The festive atmosphere made the experience even more magical, leaving us with unforgettable memories of both the event and the beautiful surroundings.
