When I decided to leave Turkey and embark on a new adventure in Poland, I had no idea what to expect. The prospect of working in a Polish kindergarten filled me with both excitement and apprehension. Little did I know, this experience would become one of the most enriching chapters of my life.
Working in a kindergarten:
Stepping into the vibrant world of a Polish kindergarten, I was greeted by the laughter and energy of children who seemed eager to share their world with me. Despite the language barrier, we quickly formed a bond that transcended words. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were infectious, and I found myself learning just as much from them as they did from me.
Each day was an adventure. We painted, played games, and explored the wonders of learning together. The children’s bright smiles and spontaneous hugs were the highlights of my days. There were moments of challenge, of course. Communicating effectively without knowing the language was a significant hurdle. Yet, through gestures, expressions, and an unspoken understanding, we managed to connect deeply.
The Polish experience:
I often found myself reflecting on the richness of the Polish culture. From traditional festivals to daily routines, every aspect was a learning opportunity. My colleagues, many of whom were volunteers from various parts of the world, became my support system. Together, we shared stories and experiences.
Personal growth:
The experience wasn’t just about cultural exchange; it was also a lesson in personal growth. Managing my time efficiently became a crucial skill. Balancing the demands of work with personal time and cultural exploration taught me the importance of organization and prioritization. I became more disciplined and found joy in the structure that I created for myself.
Despite the occasional struggles and the initial feeling of being out of place, the warmth and openness of the people around me made every challenge worthwhile. I discovered a new side of myself—resilient, adaptable, and open-hearted. The children, with their innocence and boundless energy, reminded me of the simple joys in life and the power of human connection.
The experience had changed me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the unknown.
Looking back, my journey from Turkey to Poland was not just a geographical transition but a deeply personal one. It was a journey of discovery, of learning, and of immense joy. The children I worked with, the culture I immersed myself in, and the people I met along the way have all left an indelible mark on my heart.
Now I have more hope, a wider path. I still remember my first visit like it was yesterday and looking back now, time has just flown by. I’m glad I’m here, after a great experience ends, I’m starting a new one. I’m so grateful for this!!
