On December 5th we had the opportunity to celebrate Volunteer’s Day. Since some of the volunteers were on arrival training, it was only 4 of us plus our coordinators, but it was still a very fun experience.

We all had to bring food from our countries, and we made a feast!

The event was held in the lovely space IB Polska has right in Rynek Główny. Since we were not a lot of people, it was a very chill meeting and there were lots of laughs. We all had to bring food from our countries, and we made a feast! Lorena and Seda brought flavorful foods from Spain and Türkiye, and while for obvious reasons I’m familiar with Spanish food, it was still delicious. Turkish food was surprising and super good, and to go along with that, Bünyamin made us some real Turkish coffee. Klaudyna and Aneta also came prepared with lots of Polish food as well as the world-famous chocolate chip cookies. Klaudyna also brought the classical Polish dish potato salad, which, as they explained, is made differently by every family, so this was her own version. As for me, I brought Spanish Christmas desserts and Galician cheese (my favourite!).

Did you know that table soccer was invented in Spain?

We talked a little bit about everything and then it was time for the presentations about our countries. This time they were different, as they were supposed to be fun and short. I tried to keep things interesting by doing a short presentation about fun facts about Spain that you usually wouldn’t know. For example, did you know that table soccer was invented in Spain?

Turkish memes?!

Bünyamin showed us some Turkish memes that represent the reality of the country in a humorous way and also prove that no matter where you are from, we all have a similar sense of humor!

The meeting was short but super enjoyable, and we all got to celebrate our big day as volunteers!
