Summary of October at the Multicultural Center in Krakow
October has already passed, so it’s time for a short summary of recent events at the Multicultural Centre in Krakow!
We started the month with a Book Club meeting, where we discussed Intimacies by Katie Kitamura, and at the end of October we met to talk about The Stranger by Albert Camus. Both books became a starting point for conversations about identity, loneliness, and finding one’s place in the world.
As part of the Polish Language Café, we met twice with Agnieszka Foryś from Blisko tekstu. First, on Teacher’s Day, we discussed who teaches us about life, exploring the poems of Miłosz and Czyżewski. A few weeks later, we met in the Królewstwo Bez Kresu, where our conversation was guided by Zbigniew Herbert.
We also celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival together with Light and Love Home Poland. It was colourful, joyful, and delicious! During an autumn walk with Paulina, we learned about the history of the Town Hall Tower and discovered the charms of Krakow in the golden hues of autumn.
At the Open Community Evening, we learned to paint on water using the Ebru technique, creating real little works of art. At the same time, the English Speaking Club held a Halloween edition, and Dr. Natasha Bluth led a seminar on the experiences of Ukrainian migrants. OWiM – Obserwatorium Wielokulturowości i Migracji.
October was full of great meetings and inspiration; thank you for being with us.
