Book Club meeting in July
In our most recent book club meeting, we gathered to discuss „The Years” by Annie Ernaux, a remarkable work of auto-socio-biography that blends personal narrative with collective memory.
One line in particular stayed with many of us: “All the images will disappear.”
That haunting sentence opened up a conversation about memory: how photographs fade, how entire ways of living can vanish, and how even our most vivid experiences are eventually lost to time. Ernaux reminds us that writing can be a form of resistance, a way of holding on to the fleeting moments that make up our lives. But she also challenges us to consider whether this is ever truly enough.
We’re looking forward to our next meeting, where we’ll dive into another book and continue sharing stories, reflections, and questions.
See you next month!
