Past Tuesday we spent together as our big volunteer group, which feels more and more like a family. The plan of the day: visit the Wawel Castle.
It was a wonderful opportunity to finally see the treasure of Krakow. Our day started at 10 a.m. We visited multiple exhibitions, such as the gallery of Polish paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries, which showed us the Polish art and design of the past century. Afterwards, we entered a room with paintings of the 21st century. While visiting the other rooms and exhibitions, which showed us more about the interior of this historical building in times of kings and queens, we were astonished by the complex decoration of the ceilings and carpets, which also showed us the sense of art in this time.

We entered a room which showed up as a total contrast to the other rooms. By crossing the vaulted cellar by bridges, we were impressed by the mystical atmosphere.
At the end, an exhibition with possessions of the king’s family showed us a huge variety of tableware, dresses, and other things such as swords.
As we stepped out of the numerous castle buildings, a spell of beautiful weather awaited us.

After that, we went to the office and enjoyed a presentation from Yara about “Karneval”, a traditional festival of her hometown Cologne. It gave all of us the opportunity to share other traditions of our own home countries.

After planning the following months with Aneta and Krystina and talking about rules and responsibilities, our day came to an end.
What an amazing impression of Krakow in November!
