Last Wednesday, Kristina and Maria went at the Nowa Huta Community Garden, preparing the space for the arrival of winter. With care and dedication, they worked among the colorful autumn leaves, pruning, clearing, and protecting the plants that have brought so much life to the garden during the warmer months.
To help the garden rest through the cold season, they covered the soil with a natural blanket of leaves and removed any plants that wouldn’t grow again until spring. This simple but essential step helps keep the roots warm and preserves the nutrients for next year’s growth. The work took place at the community garden on Szkolny 22, a well-loved corner of the neighborhood that connects people through nature and teamwork.

The Nowa Huta Community Garden is more than just a green space , it’s a living project where neighbors, volunteers, and local participants come together to share knowledge, care for the environment, and build stronger community bonds.
Now that the last leaves have fallen and the city is slowly preparing for winter, our garden can finally rest. We’re proud of what has been achieved this year, from planting and watering to harvesting and sharing smiles among volunteers.

But this is not a goodbye! When spring returns, so will we ready to bring new life, color, and energy back to the Nowa Huta Garden. Together, we’ll make it bloom again!
