Hi, my name is Tekla, a first-year psychology student from Georgia.

Before becoming a student, I was an actress in a theater school for nine years, part of a one-year course in a leadership school, and part of Davitianni, a one-year religious course. All my life, I have been interested in pursuing different fields of knowledge. It has always been my lifelong dream to travel and see different countries.

When I first heard about the volunteer project, I was a bit skeptical, because I had never been out of the country, nor did I have experience volunteering in such an important project. I’m also very stubborn, and when I put my mind to something, I consistently strive to achieve my goals.

Psychology has always been one of my interests, and I adore kids, so volunteering at the Autism Center of Krakow was an opportunity I couldn’t possibly let go. The beauty of the city has enchanted me, and the peacefulness is quite odd for someone who comes from the fast-paced capital. It’s quite exciting to meet new people from around the world, learn about their culture and traditions, and introduce mine to them.

Quote: Don’t wait for opportunities—create them yourself.
