Last Wednesday afternoon, an online meeting was organized that brought together current and former volunteers of IB polska where the previous participants shared their experience and recommendations. 4 of the 5 former volunteers (Fanni, Bunyamin, Lorena and Firdevs) participated in the last year ESC project where they had the chance to reconnect again after some time, whereas Tatia was a volunteer two years ago.

The current volunteers prepared some questions about the language, trips, how to deal with struggling times, best months in Krakow… that were asked to the past volunteers. These ones gave interesting and formative answers in order to help this year’s participants and make the most out of their experience. They also gave insightful opinions and information about the trainings in Warsaw and Torun that the new volunteers will attend.
Unfortunately, due to scheduling issues, not all of the previous volunteers could attend the meeting, but they were also sent the questions, which they gladly answered.
What did you do to meet local people? I talked with staff and other volunteers at the foundation, went to foundation events, and attended various events in Krakow. The Multicultural Centre at Zabłocie, especially a place called Stakkato, has many multicultural events where I met new people.

Did your volunteering impact your current life? 100% yes. I maintain a lot of friendships I made and people I met there in my life, it gave a new sense of direction that I maintain to this day and just overall changed the way I think in a positive way
